SINGULAR PROJECT — WEARCYCLE

Loreak Mendian reuses the torn sheets from the laundrette Gureak and manufactures, in collaboration with Belda Lloréns, recycled cotton thread to make the Wearcycle collection.
A responsible and inspiring collection. Let’s clothe ourselves in dreams.

THE PROCESS

STEP 1
During the cleaning process at the Ikuztegia laundrette in Oiartzun, we rescue the torn cotton sheets.

STEP 2
The sheets are mechanically shredded.

STEP 3
The textile fibre is extracted.

STEP 4
We recycle the sheets by creating a new cotton thread with their fibres, 50% recycled cotton and 50% organic cotton.

STEP 5
We eco-design the garments with the aim of making them recyclable.

STEP 6
We seek to minimise the use of new resources and prevent the sheets from being sent to landfill.

A FILM BY LOREAK MENDIAN
Dreams are the most powerful source of inspiration for people. A dreamlike world that envelops us in memories, fantasy, illusion... And we turn them into a new work. A new life.
